Spring Grove Hospital Center Heating Plant Decentralization

Min Engineering, Inc. provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design and construction administration services for the 914,230 SF, 38 building, Spring Grove Hospital Center Heating Plant Decentralization in Catonsville, Maryland. 

The project consisted of decommissioning of the existing central steam plants; implementation of stand-alone heating system for each building; decommissioning of the existing underground steam distribution piping system to 38 different buildings and design of a new underground gas distribution system for the buildings requiring gas heating; renovation of existing Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems with the latest energy saving technologies. The design also included a geothermal heatpump system, EMCS improvements, and an emergency generator system with automatic transfer switch.
